Explains the role of information technology as a business enabler. Use basic applications in management information systems including customer relationship management systems, enterprise systems, e-commerce applications, transaction processing systems, business analytics, and emerging technologies. Analyze the interaction between information technology, customers, processes, data, infrastructure, participants, and environment in an organization. Compare and evaluate the organizational fit and suitability of business applications. Deal with the individual, social, environmental, organizational and economic implications of the applications of management information systems. Use effectively communication skills. Use knowledge and skills in management information systems’ market applications development. Satisfy the qualifications required by potential employers in the field of management information systems.

An introductory course designed to provide students with fundamental knowledge of management information systems and their concepts including the use of information systems for management decision-making and the impact of information systems on management. The course will be directed to provide broad introductory understanding of information systems employed to achieve the corporate objectives. The state-of-the-art technologies that will contribute towards the future development of IT systems and applications will also be introduced. The objective of this course is to become better informed users, customers and/or professionals in the application and use of information systems and technology. The issues contributing to successful planning, design, development, implementation and management of IT systems will be discussed in this course.
