Annual Environment Day
Annual Environment Day Sunday 22nd May 2022The Committee of Community Service and Environmental Affairs of the Faculty of Commerce and Business administration organized the annual Environment day on Sunday, 22 May 2022, under the slogan "Think Blue", which is organized by the Faculty every year to raise the awareness of the students and employees with the importance of preserving the environment and minimize the environmental pollution, within the framework of adopting sustainable development goals of the United Nations by the Future University in Egypt.The events of the day began by travelling and reaching the General Authority of Red Sea Ports in Suez City. General/Ashraf Abdul Moniem Imam, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Authority welcomed Professor/Nagwa Khashaba, Dean of the Faculty, professor/Azza Hegazy, Vice Dean for Community services and Environmental Affairs, Staff members and Students. Then he praised the role played by Future University in spreading awareness between the students to protect the environment. He also explained the role played by the Authority in preserving the marine environment to remain clean. The officials at General Authority of Red Sea Ports displayed a film showing the development of their ports in the past few years to be compete with the international ports and to be a center of logistics and marine services. Then they moved to Port Tawfiq Seaport and heard an explanation by General/Nabil Salah, Head of the Central Administration of Port Tawfiq Seaport and Zaytiyat Port, of ships’ types passing by the seaport, the types of goods and the pavements’ depth. Then Captain/Hani Younis, Chief Guide of the Authority, explained to the visitors the extension work carried out at the port. A firefighting simulation was conducted on a ship at the port. Showing staff members and students how to fight the fire with the aid and intervention of naval fire units, fire engines and ambulances. A simulation to skim oil spills as 20 to 30 meter of oil was skimmed at Zaytiyat Port. Immediately, maritime units and oil removal ramps were used to deploy the barriers around the spill to prevent their spread and then withdraw them with specialized equipment and personnel and to safely dispose them. The memorial photographs were then taken with the staff members and students who praised the good reception and praised the role played by the General Authority of Red Sea Ports in preserving the marine environment.
